Should I Make the Switch from Granola to Wispr Flow Notetaker?
By Calvin McGrath
As someone who is in school full time and working part time, I attend a lot of meetings and lectures. I have always been someone who takes rigorous notes. I like to take notes because I feel like it helps me remember, and I especially like to write or type them out myself to make sure I'm remembering the things that need to be remembered.
A couple of months ago, my brother introduced me to Granola, and in short, it has changed my life. As I mentioned, I still like to write and type out my notes when possible, but the beauty of Granola is that it allows me to do that and creates a transcript for me so that nothing's missed.
There have been a couple of times over the past couple of weeks where I have had a meeting with my boss, left that meeting, gone to do some work for a couple of days, and then forgotten or needed a reminder about a specific aspect of what I was asked to do or what I was working on. Instead of reaching out to my boss, I now go to my meeting transcript, ask the question, and get an answer. It has fundamentally changed the way I work and the way that I capture information when talking with my colleagues.
It has also helped me in school. I'm the kind of person who learns best through experience and frequent review. What Granola has enabled me to do is take my class notes and review them often. I have the transcript there. I can ask Granola what I need to remember from that class, and I can supplement that with Claude or ChatGPT to create quizzes for me so that the information that was shared in class sinks into my mind.
What will be interesting to see is how my usage of Granola changes in the next few months now that Wispr Flow has released Notetaker. I am a huge fan of Wispr Flow. In fact, it's probably one of the tools that I use the most. It makes typing so much quicker. I have found that not only am I a faster typer, but it also allows me to get my ideas into writing in a more effective way. Because I'm such a big fan of Wispr Flow and don't want to use too many apps or tools, I am considering switching to Wispr Flow Notetaker.
But once again, we'll see what happens in the next few months. Ultimately, I think what would make me switch from Granola to Wispr Flow is probably audio quality, but more than that, the UX and the user experience of it all. Especially with work, school, and balancing all of that, I really do value a way to organize my notes effectively, in a way that I understand, so I know where everything's held.
Of course, audio quality is important, but also, where are my notes held? Can I access them quickly? Can the AI tooling in Wispr Flow and Granola give me effective summaries to help me remember what needs to be done and when it needs to be done?
